Ice conditions on Devils Lake are very good. Travel has been excellent this season, with 13–20 inches of ice reported across most of the lake. One thing to stay alert for is active ice ridges—they should be checked daily as conditions can change quickly. Snowpack remains light, making vehicle travel possible, though some access points may be partially drifted in.
Walleye Report
The walleye bite remains steady, with the best action occurring during low-light periods. Foggy and cloudy days have helped extend those bite windows.
- Depths:
- 10–12 ft along weed edges
- 18–22 ft on old shoreline structure
- Baits: Rattle-style baits, spoons, and Jigging Raps
- Colors: Orange, white, and gold
Some perch are being caught mixed in with walleyes in these areas as well.
Perch Report
Perch action has been best in 25–35 ft of water. Focus on basins and flat areas.
- Tackle: Small tungsten jigs tipped with spikes or waxworms
- Tip: Running smaller tungstens with a pencil weight helps keep your bait down and in the strike zone when schools move through.
