🎣 5-7-2026 Fishing Report 🎣

It finally looks like warmer weather has found us! Open water season has had a bit of a rocky start with cold temps and relentless wind keeping water temperatures low and making conditions tough. But after looking at the 10-day and long-range forecast, it appears things may finally be turning around 👀

As conditions improve this week, anglers should focus on finding the warmest water possible. Look to shallow back bays that are somewhat cut off from the main lake. Most fish will likely be holding in less than 8 feet of water over the next few weeks.

Water clarity will also be key. Too dirty isn’t good, but crystal clear water usually isn’t either. That sweet spot is around 6–12 inches of visibility.

With colder water temps, fish are still somewhat lethargic. Fishing during the warmer parts of the day—especially afternoons and evenings—will likely outproduce mornings right now.

🐟 Slow presentations continue to be the deal:
• Slowly retrieve jigs and plastics
• Bobber fish with leeches or crawlers
• Use casting presentations to locate fish, then set bobbers once you find a pod

If nothing happens after about 30 minutes, keep moving and covering water until you reconnect with fish.

🔥 Our favorite plastics right now:
• Charlie Brewer Sliders
• Walleye Assassins
• Eye-Candy Paddle Shad

Pair them with a 1/8 oz or 1/4 oz long shank jig.

🎈 Preferred bobber setup:
• Stan’s bobber
• 1/4 oz swiveling weight
• Braided main line
• Fluorocarbon leader
• Kalin’s Bobber Jig or bare Gamakatsu hook tipped with a leech or crawler

🐊 Pike fishing remains consistent, with a great mix of sizes being caught this year.

⚡ White bass action has also been solid:
• Rocky shorelines in the evenings have been productive
• Current areas around bridges are holding fish
• Mimic Minnows, stick baits, and minnows on jigs are all producing

The bite should only continue improving over the next several days. Some of the best fishing of the year is right around the corner—don’t miss it!
