6-19 Devils Lake Fishing Report

There seem to be two camps on Devils Lake right now. One group is finding success shallow along weed edges in 3–10 feet of water, while the other is targeting deeper structure in 20–30 feet. Of course, there are still a few fish hanging out in between.

Weather remains cooler than normal for this time of year, with water temperatures sitting in the low 60s. The good news is that warmer temperatures are finally in the forecast for next week, and we think the bite is really going to heat up when that happens.

Bottom bouncers and spinners are definitely here to stay for the summer. Whether you’re working weed edges or pulling over deep structure, they’re producing fish. Bobbers and leeches remain a standby as well. One benefit of the cooler weather is that leeches have been readily available with no issues. Hopefully that trend continues throughout the summer.

A few anglers have also been finding success casting and trolling crankbaits along weed beds. Shad Raps and Flicker Minnows have been the top producers. When trolling, try to maintain a speed around 2 mph.

For bobber anglers, a plain hook and leech seem to be out-fishing jigs on most days.

The fish are there, and with warmer weather on the way, things are shaping up for a great stretch of summer fishing.

We have leeches, crawlers, and minnows in stock!
