Summer has definitely moved quickly…

Devils Lake has overall fished well this summer. Seems like spots change daily on the big lake, but when you find them it can be fast and furious. The bite of late has been very solid! We have caught fish vertical jigging and slip bobbering on rock piles and humps on the main lake. Work your jig slowly and most days keep it on the bottom. We are tipping jigs with leeches or worms. As for the slip bobbers,  we use leeches under them.

We are still pulling bottom bouncers and spinners around. The bottom line is you cover a lot of water with bottom bouncers. The best depths are 10-24 feet when pulling spinners and covering water.

We are also pulling cranks out in deeper water. Leadcore is a good way to get down to fish in 25-30 feet of water. Seems like #4 and #5 Salmos have been the best most days. We have also used flicker minnows of late. Troll at 1.5 mph up to 2.4. Speed can be a big deal somedays, so play around with it a bit.

Look for the bite to stay good right up to freeze up. This gets to be a fun time of year with lots of opportunities in the outdoors for fishing and hunting. Get out to Devils Lake and enjoy it!!

We are starting to catch more pike with the cooling water temps. Look for them to get more active as we get further into spring. White bass have been spotty but when we do find them it’s usually out in deeper water (25-40 ft).

Remember to Head to Ed’s for all your fishing needs!!

Good luck to everyone.
