4-25-2024 Fishing Report

Devils Lake is 100% ice free! The ice went out last week and all of the docks are in at the public landings around the lake. Huge thanks to the Lake Region Anglers for putting them in and to Ironhide Bobcat of Devils Lake for supplying equipment to get all the docks in.

As for the bite…With the little runoff we have this year we are not seeing walleyes as concentrated in specific areas as we do in years when we have runoff; however, there are still some fish being caught. Went out in the boat yesterday and worked back bays casting jig/plastic combos into the shallows. Caught many northern pike and some nice walleyes as well. One of the walleyes was 28.5 inches. We even caught a few white bass. Water temps vary from 43-49 degrees. Water clarity varied from very clear to very dirty. We tried to find water that was somewhere in between.

The spawn should be happening any day and it is important to release fish that are going to help produce fish for the future. Look for the bite to get better each week as we continue to get warmer water temps.
